North Wales Wedding Photographer
Based in North Wales and Cheshire, I serve style-led couples across the UK and internationally.
Capturing Signature style portraits that are authentic, emotional and timeless.
My background in Fashion & Beauty allows me to bring an editorial eye that directs light and composition to create images that don't just document your day - they make it iconic!
A North Wales Wedding Photographer Who Knows the Landscape
I am Martin Japheth, a wedding photographer based near Bangor, working across North Wales, Anglesey and Cheshire. For over thirty years I have photographed people for a living, and I bring that experience to every wedding I document. Being based here, in the heart of this landscape, means I understand how the light moves across the Menai Strait, how quickly the weather can turn over Snowdonia, and where to find shelter and stillness when a coastal wind picks up. That local knowledge is quiet, but on the day it makes all the difference.
Where I Photograph
Most of my weddings take place across Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy and Snowdonia, from intimate coastal ceremonies to grand country house celebrations. I know many of the region's most loved venues well, including Château Rhianfa on the Menai Strait, the dramatic clifftop setting of Nant Gwrtheyrn, the relaxed elegance of Henblas Country Park, and the Pen Lleyn beauty of Talenbont Hall. If you are marrying somewhere I have not yet photographed, that is never a concern. I always visit ahead of the day where I can, scout the light, and plan portrait locations in advance so nothing is left to chance.
My Approach
My style blends two things that do not always sit together: the honesty of documentary storytelling and the polish of editorial portraiture. For most of your day I stay quietly in the background, capturing real moments as they happen without interruption. Then, for a short portrait session, I offer gentle direction, guiding you into beautiful light and letting the rest feel natural. The result is a gallery that feels true to your day and looks like it belongs in print. Around eighty percent of my work is unposed documentary, with the remaining twenty percent a considered editorial layer that gives your portraits a timeless, magazine quality finish.
Editorial Experience, Applied to Your Wedding
My background in fashion and editorial photography, taught me to see light, composition and emotion in a particular way. I bring that same eye to weddings, not to make your day feel like a photoshoot, but to make sure the images you keep are as beautiful as the day itself felt. I am a WPJA accredited photographer, a SWPP Registered Associate, and a Welsh Wedding Awards 2025 Finalist, and I accept only a limited number of weddings each year so that every couple has my full attention.
